In a global study of 1,000+ audit and accounting professionals across Australia, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, United Kingdom & Ireland, and the United States - conducted by IDC and sponsored by Caseware - the findings reveal how quickly AI is becoming embedded across the profession.

68% of Australian firms have already embedded AI into firm strategy, are using it across select functions or have pilot programs underway

  • 35% of Canadian respondents identified data analysis and interpretation as the most critical skill for accounting professionals in an AI-driven world
  • 49% of German respondents agree that AI can enhance audit quality
  • In The Netherlands, 60% say auditors should always validate AI outputs relied upon in reaching professional conclusions
  • 80% of respondents in the UK & Ireland say there is a very or extremely urgent need for a globally harmonised AI framework for audit and assurance.
  • In the United States, 36% say AI could risk undermining professional judgment
